Secondary Schools

FUN, FOOD, & FUNDRAISING!

MHR Austin strives to actively contribute to the success of surrounding intermediate, middle, junior high, and high schools. Through promoting community engagement and learning, we prioritize students and teachers. To stand behind our belief of the importance of fostering connection, we offer the programs below in support of the local schools.

Community First Cards

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • No! SONIC donates Community First Cards to your school or organization completely FREE!

  • Yes, these are accepted at all SONIC locations nationwide!

  • SONIC will provide 100 cards per organization.

  • Each Community First Card contains over $20 in savings!

    The featured offers include:

    • (2) B.O.G.O. SONIC Cheeseburger

    • $1.99 Wacky Pack Meal

    • B.O.G.O. 6” Premium Beef Hot Dog

    • B.O.G.O. Hot Fudge Sundae

    • B.O.G.O. Chicken Sandwich

    • (2) 99¢ Regular Breakfast Burrito

    • (2) 99¢ Large Soft Drink

  • Please allow 3-4 weeks for your order to arrive by mail.

  • Our goal is for your organization to sell all cards resulting in at least $500 raised! If all cards are not sold during the current semester/season, the remaining cards should be returned to the nearest participating SONIC if the expiration date on the cards is within 60 days.

SONIC does not take a portion of proceeds or regulate how payment is collected. The method of collection of payment is determined entirely by your organization.

  • This would violate the terms of agreement and result in discontinuation of any future partnerships between your organization and SONIC.

Group Deals

Save while you serve!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • While our Group Deals do not offer the full SONIC menu, this program focuses on convenience and savings for large groups! Maybe you’re feeding the band or a sports team at an away game or planning a staff appreciation surprise for school staff. Whatever the occasion, we make it easy to plan and save money!

  • While the discount on drinks ordered through the SONIC app and our Group Drink Deal is the same, our Group Meal Deal offers discounts available exclusively to our Community Partners though!

There are some advantages exclusive to our Group Deals listed below!

    When ordering through the app:

    - At this time, drink orders through the app cannot exceed $75.

    - For food and drinks, tax exemption cannot be applied or cannot be adjusted after payment has been made through the app.

    - You will be subject to normal wait times that accommodate for any customers present on lot when ordering through the app.

When ordering through our Group Deal:

-*Drinks can be individually labeled with the recipients’ names and orders!

-Our discounts offered on our Group Meals are not available through the app.

-Food and/or drinks are prioritized for your coordinated pick-up time! At the time of pick-up, all you need to do is pay and our crew will help you load up!

*Drinks are only individually labeled when individuals select their preferred drinks when ordering.

  • Our provided order forms ensure that all necessary information is collected for each Group Deal.

With our Group Drink Deal, this not only helps us, but also you! The information collected allows us to generate labels for each drink (for individually ordered drinks only) making distribution easier for you!

Many people assume that our full menu is available through our Group Deals, but unfortunately this is not the case. The provided order forms will only feature available items and options, keeping your total cost to an expected amount.

For health and safety reasons, we require that our provided order forms are used so that it is clearly indicated which of our products are diet and/or sugar free. This also prevents requests for products that are no longer offered on our menu.

  • For large orders, it can be a challenge to get them made while keeping things running smoothly! By providing a minimum of 3 days notice, we are able to coordinate with your nearest participating SONIC location to ensure that they can fulfill your order while providing excellent customer service.

While large orders can be made on the same day, this will be done through the SONIC app or on lot instead. The order will not be eligible for the featured discount and will not be prioritized for a scheduled pick-up. There is also no guarantee that enough product will be available to accommodate the large order.

  • As our program has developed, we have balanced the needs of both our community partners and stores. All around the nation, food costs have been on the rise, as is reflected in our prices.

With our Group Drink Deal, many community partners provided thoughtful feedback that emphasized the importance of tax exemption reflecting on tickets for accounting purposes instead of lower totals that included sales tax. To improve this program, we have adjusted the discount offered to incorporate tax exemption for all.

SONIC Fundraiser Nights

Get ready to have “tots” of fun!

We are currently CLOSED for the summer! Please check back in August 2024 to schedule for the 2024-2025 school year!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • While there are so many businesses that also support local schools and organizations, few match or exceed SONIC’s 40% giveback! Most businesses donate an average of 10% - 20% from proceeds of fundraising events. The numbers add up to make SONIC your school or organization’s top pick!

Just like our menu, SONIC offers a customizable approach to your event! We offer services and add-ons to help take your event to the next level, potentially increasing the fun to be had and funds raised. As part of our commitment to our community partners, a Community Marketing Specialists will coach you through planning and executing your event from beginning to end. From scheduling and planning your event, to coordinating your marketing materials and even check-ins throughout the process, we’re with you every step of the way!

  • While we want to support schools and organizations of all sizes, we focus more on ensuring our community partners can maximize their funds raised to support their programming. We find that SONIC Fundraiser Nights are most beneficial to groups that can attract 50 or more supporters and families to their event.

If your organization is smaller, or struggles with recruiting supporters and volunteers, we recommend signing up for our Community First Card fundraising program instead.

  • Our SONIC locations know to collect receipts when the purchasing party identifies their association with the event. They will also recognize SONIC Fundraiser Night stickers worn by students! We understand that things can get busy during an event, and receipts can be forgotten though, so associated receipts are electronically accounted for as well.

Can supporters participate in my fundraiser through the SONIC app?

Unfortunately, this option is not available currently. We are always looking for ways to improve our programs for community partners though and acknowledge that this is something requested for future use.

Do gift cards count towards 40% of supporter sales?

Yes! As long as the gift card(s) is purchased between 4:00 – 8:00 PM on the day of the event and the sale is associated with the event. SONIC Fundraiser Nights are an excellent time to pick up teacher gifts or stocking stuffers!

  • After your request has been accepted and the SONIC Fundraiser Night has been scheduled, your selected additional marketing materials will be shipped to the provided address 2 weeks prior to your event.

Will signage and marketing materials be delivered to my school or the participating SONIC?

Due to growing demand for our community partnership programs, we are no longer able to deliver signage and marketing materials directly to schools. However, signage is still available for use but must be picked up from our offices in Austin. While we will miss the opportunities to visit campuses in person, we are excited to be able to use the time to serve more schools and organizations instead.

  • A Slush Drinking Contest is a great way to create engagement between students and/or staff and increase attendance at your SONIC Fundraiser Night! With spots for up to 5 contestants, each contestant is likely to attract at least 1-2 more attendees to watch them. Often the highlight of the night, a contest will make your event one for the books!

Can I hold more than one contest?

SONIC will provide up to 5 free mini slushes (one per contestant) and a winner’s prize for the contest at your SONIC Fundraiser Night. Due to popular demand for contests, we are only able to provide the complementary slushes and prize for one contest. Additional contests can be held, but the hosting organization is responsible for purchasing additional slushes and providing any additional prizes.

  • We understand that life happens and school calendars and schedules change! A Community Marketing Specialist will help get your event rescheduled.

The new date selected must be a minimum of three weeks from the date of cancellation (pending availability).

If cancellation occurs a second time, the participating school/organization will forfeit their eligibility to host an event in the current semester.

  • Checks can take up to 3-4 weeks to arrive after a SONIC Fundraiser Night. To expedite this process, be sure to provide the needed EIN # or Tax Payer ID prior to your event.

Recognition Certificates

We are currently CLOSED for the summer! Please check back in August 2024 to schedule for the 2024-2025 school year!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • All student certificates include a free small slush and all other certificates include a free medium drink!

  • Yes! SONIC values community and education and our Recognition Certificates are a way for us to give back! We know teachers can often feel pressured to provide classroom rewards out-of-pocket but these certificates are a no cost way to reward and recognize students for a variety of positive behaviors! These certificates are also a great way for student-led organizations to recognize participation and leadership so funding can further support programming!

  • Each secondary campus (through administration or associated parent organization) is allotted 150 total staff/volunteer certificates per semester*.

Secondary teachers are allotted 20 total student certificates per semester*. This amount is perfect for recognizing a student weekly!

*If a campus has already ordered the allotted number of certificates for the semester and another order is requested, they will be notified. The maximum allotment of certificates can be issued once per semester.

  • Due to high demand, only a limited quantity of certificates can be provided for this program to be sustained. While the use of the certificates is to be determined by each group ordering, we recommend they are used directly in classrooms rather than for large ceremonies or assemblies. If a teacher/school/organization has already ordered the allotted number of certificates for the semester and another order is requested, they will be notified.

  • Certificates will be sent directly to school campuses. Orders will not be fulfilled if the address provided is residential. Rush requests will not be honored.

Certificates will take up to 3-4 weeks to arrive after orders are submitted*.  We recommend planning ahead with enough time for mailing if coordinating these for a special occasion such as Back to School, progress reports, kick off of athletic season, or Teacher Appreciation Week!

*Orders placed in July will not process until August and orders placed in December will not process until January due to school closures.

  • To allow for use in as many classrooms as possible, we currently offer 6 options of student certificates:

    - Attendance Award
    - Outstanding Achievement
    - Athletic Achievement
    - Fine Arts Achievement
    - SONIC Scholar
    Customizable Award

  • Certificates ordered July-November will expire on 1/31. Certificates ordered December-May will expire on 6/30.

Banquet Awards

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • All awards include a free small slush for the recipient!

  • Yes! SONIC values community and education and our Banquet Awards and Recognition Certificates are a way for us to give back! Extra curriculars are an incredibly valuable part of the school experience and these awards are a great no-cost way for student-led organizations to recognize involvement, leadership and achievements so funding can further support programming.

  • Each secondary organization (through boosters, faculty sponsors or leadership affiliated with the group) is allotted 50 awards per academic year*. Multiple teams/UIL groups from one school can place an order within an academic year, however, a single team/UIL group may not order multiple times within the year.

*If an organization has already ordered the allotted number of awards for the year and another order is requested, they will be notified. The maximum allotment of awards can be issued once per academic year.

  • Due to high demand, only a limited quantity of awards can be provided for this program to be sustained. While the use of the awards is to be determined by each group ordering, we recommend they are used as specialized awards rather than recognition of general participation to limit the number required.

  • Awards will be sent directly to school campuses. Orders will not be fulfilled if the address provided is residential. Rush requests will not be honored.

Awards will take up to 3-4 weeks to arrive after orders are submitted*.  We recommend planning ahead with enough time for mailing if coordinating these for an end of year/season banquet.

*Orders placed in July will not process until August and orders placed in December will not process until January due to school closures.

  • Awards ordered July-November will expire on 1/31. Awards ordered December-May will expire on 6/30.

Sponsorships & Donations

  • Due to the high volume of sponsorship and monetary donation requests for our 55 locations throughout the greater Austin area, we offer the partnership programs featured above. By forming partnerships to support fundraising instead of providing sponsorships, we are able to support more schools and organizations in our local communities!

We are unable to provide food/drink donation (uncooked or prepared) due to policy and regulation.
